Can Thoughts Change Your Life And Change The World?

Monday, December 31st, 2007

If you believe in The Power Of Intention the answer is yes. Lynne McTaggart’s forthcoming book looks to the science behind The Secret, showing how the power of thoughts can change us and change the world.

Immigrants Are People Too

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Even if they are here without documentation. I don’t like the term “illegal immigrant.” How can a person be illegal for existing?  The New York Times editorializes today, showing that the Republicans are trying to out-Dobbs each other, while Democrats, at least, have a better starting point on this issue. Some good questions are asked:

What should be the role of immigrant labor in our economy? How does the country maximize its benefits and lessen its ill effects? Once the border is fortified, what happens to the 12 million illegal immigrants already here? Should they be expelled or allowed to assimilate? How? What about the companies that hire them?

A truly healed planet doesn’t get hung up on borders, but does get hung up on what the must humane way is of dealing with human beings. Most human beings want what we all want, peace in our time, opportunity, and the best for their families. How about starting from that vantage point?

How Do You Heal A Planet When One Country Aches?

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

And did our policies lead to this tragedy? We’re the ones who are trying to cram democracy down the throats of countries not ready for it. Can that be true democracy?
And we’re the ones who plotted the return of Bhutto to a country not ready for her.
And we’re the ones who supported Musharraf for as long as it suited our interests, as Juan Cole points out.
How do we heal the planet now?

Will Smith Sees Good In Everyone

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Even Hitler. And now the Jewish Defense League wants to boycott his movie, “I Am Legend.” But wasn’t Smith just using an extreme example to say that there is good in everyone, and that the most evil person may think he or she is not evil at all because of perverse, twisted thinking? And does the most evil, twisted human being have a shred of goodness that we should strive to recognize?

Orgasms For Peace

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Imagine a third of the world having orgasms at the same moment. That hoped-for occurance would be at the moment of the winter solstace at 1:08AM,Saturday December 22, 2007. Global Orgasm For Peace knows that human consciousness can be measured to have a global effect on matter and energy during widely-watched events. The Global Consciousness Project at Princeton University has studied this using a network of random event generators, examining whether human thought has an effect on world events. If you do participate, let us know how it goes.

Dennis Kucinich Is Always Meditating

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

In an interview with beliefnet, Dennis Kucinich was asked if he meditates or does yoga:

KUCINICH: I’m meditating now. This conversation with you is a meditation.

BELIEFNET: Hmmm. How so?

KUCINICH: In that it is a constant flowing in and flowing out of spiritual principles, connection to thought, which is derived from spirit. It’s the way I live every moment.

BELIEFNET: Does campaigning feel like a spiritual practice?

KUCINICH: Every moment of my life. EVERY MOMENT connects to spirit. In fact, that’s how I’m here.

Dennis wants a department of peace to reflect a culture of non-violence. Even though his poll numbers make him nowhere near where he needs to be to get the nomination, it’s refreshing to hear a candidate talk like this.

Change Your Thoughts And Change Your Life

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Wayne Dyer’s latest book based on the Tao is worth taking your time to read. It seems so simple that it’s actually difficult. Just like life itself. His take on war, guns, and the negativity that invades us every day is worth the price.

Toward Peace In The Mideast

Monday, December 17th, 2007

World powers are meeting to fund a Palestinian state.

Welcome To This Space

To start off, I would like to ask, which candidate for president would do the most to work toward a healed planet?
